Consortium of Genius live show - 2007 production rider

personnel:

Lewis D'Aubin (vocals/bandleader)
Ed Merilh (guitar)
Jim Fairchild (bass)
Chris Flattmann (backup vocals and instrumentation)
Brandon Brunious (roadie)
Jeannine Flores (merch)

Bass amp, guitar amp, and drum kit required. Drum kit will be used for visual appearance ONLY and need not be miked.

Front-of-House Speakers: The sound reinforcement system will be a professional-grade system with the front-of-house speakers composed of separate high, mid and low frequency speakers connected by a 3-way active crossover and driven by an appropriate number of power amplifiers. The speaker components/cabinets will be any of these brands: JBL, Meyer, Turbosound, Apogee, Electro-Voice, Eastern Acoustic Works, Ramsa, or Mackie. The power amplifiers will be any of these brands: JBL, Crest Audio, BGW, QSC, Crown, Yamaha, Hafler, Mackie or Carvin. The front-of-house speakers system must be capable of producing sound without distortion with a sound pressure level (SPL) of at least 99 dB uniformly within the venue.

Mixer: The mixer will have at least 8 channels, with at least 3-band EQ per channel, capable of at least (3) discrete monitor mixes. The mixer will be any one of these brands: Allen & Heath, Yamaha, Soundcraft, Crest Audio or Mackie. The mixer will be operable, via 'snaked' cabling, from a front-of-house vantage position, so as to provide the house a mix from the audience's perspective.

Monitor System: The monitor system will have either (3) two-way monitor speakers distributed as follows: (1) for lead vocals; (1) for bassist vocals; (1) for guitarist vocals, or (1) two-way monitor speaker for lead vocals and (2) two-way side-fill speakers at stage-left and stage-right positions. The monitors must be capable of high SPL levels without distortion or feedback.

Microphones & Direct Injection Boxes: For vocals, there will be (2) Shure SM-58 microphones on two (2) boom mic stands. A third mic stand should be provided for lead vocals; the band carries its own wireless mic system for the lead vocalist. The guitar speaker will be miked, using a stand, with an SM-57 microphone. The bass guitar will have its direct output connected via direct box to the mixer, and the synth and percussion backing tracks will each have a direct output connected to the mixer. Additionally, the lead vocal will be preamped and pre-processed by the band's equipment, with (1) dry and (1) processed outputs connected to the mixer. This makes a total of (8) channels as follows:

1. Drums (direct XLR feed)
2. Synths (direct XLR feed)
3. Dry lead vocal (direct XLR feed)
4. Processed lead vocal (direct XLR feed)
5. Stage left vocal - boom stand
6. Stage right vocal - boom stand
7. Bass (mic'd, or D.I. from digital preamp (Johnson 'J-Station' processor onstage)
8. Guitar (mic'd or D.I. from digital preamp (Line6 POD XT processor onstage)

Except for the guitar, bass, and live vocals, the C.O.G. show is automated by a rack system. The computer rack needs to be located within 15' of the stage (on either side) and requires 10amp AC power common to the PA, and 4 XLR inputs as follows:

Drum samples, synths, background effects, etc, are delivered through two +4 level XLR outputs. Lead vocal will be handled by our Shure UHF wireless rig, processed through our computer rack. We will supply +4 level XLR outputs for dry and wet vocal channels. Stage monitors should contain DRY vocals only.

We have digital processor preamps for bass and guitar, which we will hook to your onstage amplification. Each preamp is also capable of direct output from a 1/4" jack if desired.

C.O.G. uses two channels of video projection, one for the appearance of our 'drummer' character drumbot, and one for a large projection screen placed behind the band. The drummer animation is projected onto a freestanding unit and requires only an AC power drop behind the drumset.

C.O.G. normally employs 'back screen' video projection, using a projector that can be flown or pole mounted at the front of the stage, and a portable 12' screen. Alternately we can use an in-house video projection system, if available. Our feed to the house is supplied by a composite video output from a wireless 2.4Ghz receiver that can be located anywhere within 50 yards of our show computer rack, or run via a direct coax cable.

C.O.G. normally uses its own automated lighting. Our lights require only standard 110VAC 20amp extension cord drops at stage right, stage left, and behind the drum riser. Alternately, we can control house lighting via a remote light board. For main lighting control, we can supply 3 or 5 pin DMX output. The DMX drop should be within 10' of the stage computer. If we cannot bring our own automated lighting we will supply a lighting technician.

C.O.G. normally uses automated smoke machine effects, based on a standard variety water-based fogger. Smoke is controlled and limited by a distribution tube, and automated by our lighting system. Our smoke machine requires a 20amp AC drop near the front of the stage, stage left. Please let us know ahead of time if smoke is NOT permissible.

That's pretty much it! Please let me know if you need any further info.
