Returning to rock the Gulf Coast with the Suzaku 7, everything was going great until Dr. Konstantin drank all the vodka in the Inebriation Ray gun! The set was cut a few seconds short by a breaker giving out, but on the whole, a good night for evil science, and another fun showing from our scientific allies in Inebriation Labs.

The prestigious Green Room was the site of our sendoff of Dr. Ivan Stroganoff, who ended up being assimilated into the Barnum & Bailey Institute following two great sets of rock and roll. Cookies, cupcakes and crowd participation capped off a wonderful night - a fitting sendoff for our beloved keyboardist.

Pinkerton's capture by the Komrades Oppression Group led to the outing of Dr. Ivan Stroganoff and Max D. Struction's secret agenda, at the mysterious hand of one Dr. Chronotis, who was out for revenge. Pinkerton's case of Stockholm Syndrome didn't really help his cause, either...but the whole crowd rocked all night to 4 great bands!

Circus of Nightmares / Taco Supremo / Top Hat / The Angel of Death / Bucket of Blood / Everyone Dies (But Me) / Zombie Apocalypse BBQ / March of the Skaletons / Reach Out and Touch the Hand / Doctor Who cha cha / Placebo!

The premature breakdown of our Clockwork Percussionator didn't stop our Steampunk ancestors from continuing to swing, even to the point of hypnotizing one of the staff to play the drums for a couple tunes! A sterling success, despite Prof. Pinkerton's premature arrest by the Temporal Police.

Our first appearance in Nashville was emceed by the great Dr. Gangrene of Chiller Cinema. The imminent closing of the venue almost meant no running water, but didn't deter the C.O.G.!

pictures by Jeannine Flores

Circus of Nightmares / Taco Supremo / Top Hat / The Angel of Death / Bucket of Blood / Everyone Dies (But Me) / Zombie Apocalypse BBQ / March of the Skeletons / Doctor Who cha cha

A discreet 'exhibition' show to try out the jazz version of the band onstage was met with much applause from the Steampunk community of New Orleans. In the end, Prof Pinkerton was dragged away by Inspector O'Reilly of the Temporal Police!

158th Lecture
Friday, April 13th, 2012 - French Quarter Fest, New Orleans, LA

Our premiere appearance at French Quarter Fest was a rousing success! Our dance grooves got people up on their feet, Dr. Rachnid finally got another show in with the C.O.G. on trumpet and guitar, we had a new substitute keyboardist in the person of Impresario Veniamin Konstantin, and Dr. Morgus electrocuted Dr. Pinkerton via cel phone. In the end we made a lot of new friends and sold a record number of CD's, on a beautiful, breezy, comfortable afternoon.

The folks at Marscon were strangely almost universally receptive Dr. Pinkerton's evil plan of BLOWING UP THE WORLD! We made lots of new friends and allies, and converted a multitude of minds to our way of thinking. This resoundingly successful lecture was later followed by a most intriguing investigation into GOOD and EVIL, up on the 13th floor! This show was years in the making and partially sponsored by Dementia Radio.

154th Lecture

Second stop on our tour up to Marscon was a great little place in the heart of old Milwaukee... this club was advertising a 'Doctor Who' night later in the month, so we really had to oblige them with our rendition of the theme song (which drew an appreciative round of shots from their English bartender!) Fun audience included some old friends from Chicago. It started to snow just before our performance, proving the WeatherTron was acting up again...

I Think Therefore I Rock / Born in the South / M.I.L.K. / Funky Fresh / Bucket of Blood / Mallet of Metal / Zombie Apocalypse BBQ / Death to the Angel of Death / Why Do We Do It / Bow 2 Me / Science Party

First stop on our tour up to Marscon was in a comfy and excellent little club right near Elvis's favorite BBQ joint! Interesting factoid about Murphy's - their tables were the old 'turn of the century newspaper clippings' themed tables from Wendy's restaurants, from two decades ago...

The 2nd annual Chewbacchinal brought hundreds of waterlogged costumed paraders and revelers to the Howlin' Wolf, and we obliged them with a generous helping of originals and science fiction covers in this loose but energetic set. Lots of old and new friends made appearances, and in the end we blew up (and destroyed) the world!

A fun night, despite being hemmed in by an opening act that was annoyingly slow to relinquish the stage, and a DJ that was scheduled for midnight (shortening our second set). Nevertheless, a good crowd who enjoyed dancing along with evil science! The evening was made even more notable by Dr. A Rachnid making his first 2011 public appearance.

Our first show in Houston was attended by a small but really devoted audience (some of whom had been waiting for literally YEARS to see us) in a really cool place. Super Happy Fun Land had a great big stage, a really sharp sound man, nice seating for the audience, and a big projection screen in back. A brief breaker problem didn't detract from a really amazing show! Special kudos also to our opening act, the Hack & Slashers, for delivering the Mallet at the right moment, and Cirrus Minor for playing us absolutely stunningly beautiful music to load out to.

Appearing in a featured showcase for Foburg Festival's debut, Dr. Pinkerton attempted to use his new 'Enlarge-O-Tron' to expand cockroaches to immense size and set them loose in the city. Unfortunately for him, the weapon ran out of battery power, but not before a roach was enlarged to 10' in size - fortunately that particular roach was more interested in dancing than destruction! (To accompany the evening's Japanese flavor, all C.O.G. dialogue was dubbed - badly - from English to Japanese and back to English!)

Eager to use Dr. Z's newly weaponized H1N1 virus, dubbed 'Filbertitis', and simultaneously give Filbert Snodgrass a meaningful means of employment, Dr. Pinkerton assigns Filbert the hefty responsibility of deploying the virus canister, with predictably awful results...

C.O.G.'s fourth show in Pensacola was lots of fun and would have been perfection itself if foul weather hadn't cut down the crowd. Our opening act, C. Martin Croker of 'Adult Swim', showed some really cool old films and stuck around for our set (his favorite song: Death to the Angel of Death!)

115th Lecture
Friday, December 11th, 2009 - Maison Musique, New Orleans LA

With: The Local Skank, RF7 & the Hightones, Clockwork Elvis
Pictures by ???

Death to the Angel of Death / Zombie Apocalypse Barbecue / Born in the South / Science Party

Deprived of Drumbot for the evening, the C.O.G. enlisted the aid of Dr. Delarge, and proceded to dispense a very humanized mini-set of favorites!

When we arrived at Maison Musique and found out0 that they were sticking us, and for that matter ALL the bands in a tiny upstairs room with only a tiny vocal PA and no monitors, we made the most of a potential logistical nightmare. A few phone calls and we had secured the aid of our friend and fan D.C. Harbold, who was performing with one of his MANY bands later that night on the same bill. D.C. filled in on drums, marking the first time we've EVER performed a gig without our normal computer backup... and the crowd loved it!

C.O.G. rocked the House of Shock for the 2nd Sunday of their 2009 season... and a lucky 13th gate cast member was the lucky winner of one genuine Lo Bo To My!

112th Lecture
Friday, October 16th, 2009 - The House of Blues Parish room, New Orleans LA

I Think Therefore I Rock / BOW 2 Me / LoBoToMy / Android Woman / M.I.L.K. / I Scream / Placebo! / The Creep / Funky Fresh / Science Party / Science Fight / Bow 2 Me (Filbert style!) / No More Mister Nice Guy

C.O.G. returned to the House of Blues Parish room for its 'Laboratory of Horrors Halloween Special', in a contest to determine who would unleash the CREATURE - Dr. Z or Rachnid. Everything went smoothly until the Army chased a dangerous and very pissed off extraterrestrial onstage, leading to Pinkerton's demise. Filbert Snodgrass then proceeded to assume command, which infuriated Dr. Pinkerton sufficiently to rouse him from the grave!

Anaujiram filled in at last minute for 'Mad Dog', who were supposed to be delivering their final show. A costume contest and COG-cake put this show over the top! This show we also switched (back) over to using a solid state hard drive for the main computer... and it worked quite well. Mix by Chopsley!

An all-metal show with heavy metal legends Crowbar saw C.O.G. performing with Filbert Snodgrass on bass for the first time in nine years! Winning over a potentially hostile crowd, C.O.G. played as intensely as possible, warned the crowd about Dr. Pinkerton's new NV Gear Strings, and then turned the night over to Yngwie Flattstein, who had just been released from the Sharon Osborne clinic...

"Drumbot Explodes" was the plot of the 1st set; second set was straight music. Lots of great compliments and autographs afterwards! We ran on a tight schedule and finished up early, before midnight. This show saw the retirement of our old Amiga 3000 based video system (in service since the very beginning) and the premiere of our new DeeSampler based backscreen full motion video, courtesy of a rackmounted headless P4 laptop.

There was much BOWing and scraping at the end. The Orion Slave Girls appearing just in time for 'Funky Fresh' and the appearance of pirates just in time for 'Bucket of Blood' were unexpected lagniappe!

Special Appearance
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008
WWL-TV, Channel 4 Morning News

Songs: Science Fight (partial) / March of the Skaletons (partial) / Reach Out and Touch the Hand (partial) / Lab Coat

For our last great night at House of Shock 2007, we took the opportunity to razz 'Fall Out Boy' and Ashlee Simpson, who were making their way through the haunted house as part of a radio contest, announcing that they had become impaled in the House of Shock, had contracted the Black Plague, etc. A fitting end to a great season.

The name of the place should have tipped us off... despite the enthusiasm of Carlos, the owner of Club Phoenix, the patrons were there for the D.J., NOT for the live band (gee, we should have brought the Brain Being with us!) The D.J. even aborted our show early. No worries, though; what this lecture lacked in logic it made up for in profitability! Thank heaven for small miracles...

C.O.G. returns to rock the House of Shock again, with new covers courtesy of Dr. A Rachnid. A blast, despite the routine equipment casualties! Halloween night was esp. memorable... Phil Anselmo was seen rocking to 'Die Barney Die' and Dr. A Pentatonic made a surprise appearance!

Wow, our second Dragon*Con performance! Always a blast - albeit a tiring one, we had lots of technical glitches and started late due to the usual con time slippage, but on the whole it was quite worthwhile. We rocked a bunch of newbies and made a lot of friends.

Dr. Pinkerton dispatches former members of the C.O.G. with Deth Lazer cannons to the four corners of the Earth, in order to split the world in twain! The experiment is a success, but the unspeakable horror at the center of the world proves too dangerous for even the C.O.G.!

We must have been insane to attempt to stage both our 10th Anniversary Show and shoot critical parts of our 2nd TV episode all in the same night! We pulled it off, mind you - but a mountain of setbacks and dollops of bad luck pushed the night way into the wee hours. However, we persisted, and the 90% of the crowd that hung with us to the end proved quite appreciative!

Dr. Pinkerton is shocked to find out that both Dr. Z and Dr. A Rachnid have each been developing their own version of THE CREATURE, Pinkerton's latest scheme for Taking Over The World. Having only one brain to use for activating the creature leads to some infighting over which version will be activated...

Wonderful show in front of an enthusiastic crowd of Rocky Horror devotees. Even better, it was a reunion of sorts with the crew that used to run Movie Pitchers, another all-ages-friendly movie theatre where we played in the early days.

82nd Lecture - "Do We Have the Power"
May 7th, 2005 - The Howlin' Wolf, New Orleans LA

With: Egg Yolk Jubilee
4 camera video

Songs: I Have the Power / Why Do We Do It / It's Morally Wrong / March of the Skaletons / Bucket Of Blood / LoBoToMy / M.I.L.K. / Brain Rewrapped / Funky Fresh / Science Party / Death to the Angel of Death / Bow 2 Me

Pinkerton attempts to hypnotize the entire world with his new invention, the Hypnotron. Lacking sufficient Power to do so, he gives Dr. A. Rachnid and Dr. Z a chance to hypnotize the world THEIR way. Dr. A Rachnid uses Kandarian Black Magic to summon the Horn Zombies, which eventually have to be dispelled due to their constant hunger for BRAINS and BLOOD. Dr. Z attempts to utilize mideast mysticism on the crowd, but it only seems to affect the women! In the end Dr. Pinkerton manages to procure sufficient Power - too much in fact; for shortly after hypnotizing the entire world to Bow to the C.O.G., his head explodes. 'Morally Wrong', 'March of the Skaletons', and 'Bucket of Blood' performed with the horns of Egg Yolk Jubilee. Sound-man Willis' last show at the 'Wolf. And possibly ours too.

Bidden to appear by the demon Baron Mondo Von Doren (and his faithless sidekick El Sappo), C.O.G. appeared in Pensacola and rocked the house - until the Evil Empire stepped in to try to infiltrate the C.O.G.!

A conspiracy to remove Dr. Pinkerton from power results in a game-show like trial gone horribly wrong! Lots of cameos from older characters made this, in the words of several fans, the "best C.O.G. show ever."

The C.O.G. fight back by becoming Busters of Ghosts, and vacuum up the offending entities - until accidentally crossed proton streams cause the robot prototype to transform into Poppin Fresh, who squishes poor Dr. Pinkerton! This lecture was special in several ways - including our first onstage collaboration with Beth Patterson and Damien Youth on the encore, the first onstage appearance of Filthy the Skeleton, and a cameo appearance (following a three year absense) by none other than Filbert Snodgrass!

Last minute preparations payed off well as we rocked Exoticon and were subsequently slaughtered by the mad maniacs of Antarctica vs. the World! This show made us new friends and fans, and provided a second chance to those who missed our previous weekend's triumph...

27th Lecture - "Pinkerton For President"
Saturday night, November 11th, 2000 - The Howlin' Wolf

Opening acts: Villa Diodati and Antarctica vs. The World
photos by ? video by Jim Fairchild

Songs: Bow 2 Me / I Scream / So Confuse / It's Morally Wrong / Black Plague / Android Woman / Brain Wrap / Bite Me / Death to the Angel of Death / M.I.L.K. / March of the Skeletons / All I Wanna Do Is You / Science Party / LoBoToMy / Now You're a Man

Pinkerton's campaign for president, announced four days after the election, necessitated a trip back in time to the year 1999 (a trick the Democrats and Republicans have not yet figured out how to do - thank C.O.G.) Biggest crowd yet, thanks to heavy promotion and good word of mouth. A great night despite many small technical hitches.

Songs: Bow 2 Me / M.I.L.K. / March of the Skeletons / Bite Me / I Scream / Death to the Angel of Death / It's Morally Wrong

Efforts by the Consortium of Genius to rid itself of the gutterpunks landed them in hot water with both Death and the Evil One... which in turn landed Pinkerton and Pentatonic in HELL!

25th Lecture - "C.O.G. vs. Fil-Bot"

Songs: Bow 2 Me / It's Morally Wrong / Science Party / Android Woman / March of the Skeletons / LoBoToMy / Bite Me / I Scream / Death to the Angel of Death / Now You're a Man / Green Slime

An almost flawless performance by Filbert left Pinkerton & Pentatonic scratching their heads... until it was revealed that Filbert had substituted an android in his place and stayed at the lab to play Dungeons and Dragons and watch Star Trek! We took care of that little problem with the transporter...

24th Lecture - "The Miseducation of Filbert Snodgrass 2"

A large, appreciative crowd (over 100 people on a Thursday night) left a strong impression on both the newbies and the club staff! Even Sean Yseult, bassist for White Zombie, was impressed but proved resistant to Filbert's attempts to ask her out.

23rd Lecture - "The Miseducation of Filbert Snodgrass"

Unbelievably good performaces and a night to remember.

Special Appearance

Gallier Hall
Dark Cotillion Goth Party

Brief appearance following Igor Kitty was intended to annoy goth people and promote our show on the 13th. Strangely, several goths didn't get it at first and enjoyed the music... until they caught the lyrics!

Poor quality mix by the club staff failed to ruin a fun time for all as we took on Zarglar one more time...

'C.O.G. Infomercial II' video
released June 1999

20th Lecture - "C.O.G. vs. the Wrath of Zarglar"

Our plans to take over the world were very nearly thwarted by Zarglar, an alien irritant from the Galactic League of Ultimate Evil, who intended to take over the C.O.G.! Lucky for us the Juice-O-Tron was handy... Mixed by Mike Martin.

19th Lecture - "C.O.G. vs. Igor Kitty"

A one night conquest of the evil world of Goth. Also, Igor Kitty's best attempt yet to destroy the C.O.G.! Mixed by Mike Martin.

18th Lecture - "In Search of... Dr. Wissenschaft"
Friday night, March 12th, 1999 - Movie Pitchers

Opening act: Angel Dust

Mobster Dr. A Pentatonic shoots his way onto the scene, dispensing with Dr. Wissenschaft, and then, trying to kill Dr. Pinkerton and take over the C.O.G.! Incredible, flawless show... premiere of Dr. A. Pentatonic

17th Lecture
Friday night, October 2nd, 1998 - Jimmy's Music Club

Opening for Igor Kitty
photos, video

Songs: Science Party / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Brain Wrap / All I Wanna Do Is You

Potentially strong show mangled by the sudden unexpected absence of Dr. Wissenschaft. Also featured an early unexpected appearance by Dr. A. Pentatonic! Dr. Wissenschaft's last show.

16th Lecture - "The World's Largest Guitar"
Thursday night, September 3rd, 1998 - DragonCon ' 98

photos by Jeannine Floresfixed video

Songs: Science Party / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Brain Wrap / All I Wanna Do Is You / So Confuse / Green Slime / M.I.L.K. / LoBoToMy / It's Morally Wrong / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death / Die Barney Die

Dr. Pinkerton attempts to create the loudest sound in the universe by crashing an alien spaceship into the World's Largest Guitar, constructed in orbit around Saturn. Excellent show delivered to an understandably dazed and confused Atlanta audience.

15th Lecture
Thursday night, August 20th, 1998 - Jimmy's Music Club

Opening for Willem McCormick Band
no photos, good video

Songs: Science Party / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Brain Wrap / All I Wanna Do Is You / So Confuse / Green Slime / M.I.L.K. / It's Morally Wrong / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death

New songs, new video projector, new script. Though cut short by one song, this was probably the best lecture delivered to date by the C.O.G.

14th Lecture - "C.O.G. vs. New Orleans Worst Film Festival"
Saturday night, May 23th, 1998 - New Orleans Worst Film Festival

photos, no video

Songs: Science Party / All I Wanna Do Is You / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Brain Wrap / Green Slime / Death to the Angel of Death / LoBoToMy / Die Barney Die

Special appearances by the Consortium of Genius made this year's Worst Film Festival a day to remember. A custom script provided many hilarious moments as Dr. Pinkerton and the Consortium continued to distrupt the festival with horrible experiments and music. This show was our test bed for future appearances on larger stages.

13th Lecture
Friday night, March 20th, 1998 - Movie Pitchers

Opening act: Igor Kitty
no photos, no video (thank Gawd!)

Songs: Science Party / Dance or Die / All I Wanna Do Is You (full version) / So Confuse / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / Green Slime / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death

Numerous technical problems caused show, which began extrememly late, to lurch to a halt several times. In the end, though, many in the crowd said it was their favorite show, probably due to many special new bits including the return of Dr. Smerlington, who engaged in a tense Kung Fu battle with Filbert Snodgrass for bass supremacy!

12th Lecture - "Spice-World Must Be Destroyed!"
Saturday night, February 7th, 1998 - Checkpoint Charlie's

Opening act: Lunch
photos, no video

Songs: Science Party / Dance or Die / All I Wanna Do Is You (full version) / So Confuse / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / Green Slime / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death / Rabbid

A very good night, begun by destroying Spice World! Great crowd response, especially for songs about death and destruction! Ended night by destroying Jason's keyboard stand!

11th Lecture
Friday night, December 5th, 1997 - Checkpoint Charlie's

Opening acts: Converts, Igor Kitty
photos?, no video

Songs: Science Party / Dance or Die / All I Wanna Do Is You (full version) / So Confuse / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / Green Slime / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death / Rabbid

Problems early on when the video computer was plugged into a plug miswired for 240V! Despite lack of video, a strong night, with great performances all around, and good crowd response, particularly to the new material. Set it and forget it mix, contributing to feedback problems. We lost money due to computer damage and parking tickets, but in the end, nobody seemed to mind.

10th Lecture
Friday night, October 17th, 1997 - The Audubon Tavern

Opening act: Igor Kitty
photos by Amy, no video

Songs: Ode on a Mass Spectrometer / Lovekill / Dance or Die / All I Wanna Do Is You / So Confuse / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / March of the Skeletons

Krazy night. Power problems early on, followed by problems with the club personnel later - the club's fey, German D.J. attempted to drown out our music, then halted the show - Filbert responded by kicking in the bastard's door! Nevertheless, we made more profit than at any previous show.

Songs: Ode on a Mass Spectrometer / Lovekill / Dance or Die / All I Wanna Do Is You / So Confuse / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death / Rabbid

Even better performance than last time. It rained outside while we reigned inside. Even smaller crowd than last time. Mixed by Spike. First attempt to split the audio output feeds to main mixer into rhythm/synth-samples. As a consequence, samples were mixed in too low.

8th Lecture
Wednesday night, August 20th, 1997 - Jimmy's Music Club

Songs: Ode on a Mass Spectrometer / LoveKill / Dance or Die / All I Wanna Do Is You / So Confuse / Black Plague / Krazed Archer / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death / Rabbid

Opening for Shudderpulp
photos by Jude, no video

Songs: Ode on a Mass Spectrometer / LoveKill / Dance or Die / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death

3rd Lecture
Friday night, November 8th, 1996 - Crystal Plantation

Opening acts: Lunch, Kwazi Moto
no photos, one camera handheld video

Songs: Ode on a Mass Spectrometer / LoveKill / Dance or Die / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death

Let into the venue real late, setup during Lunch and Kwazi Moto. Power failure during "Dance or Die." Small crowd but well received performance. Videotape came out really well. Show mixed by Mike Martin.

Opening act: Kwazi Moto
photos?, no video
Songs: Ode on a Mass Spectrometer / LoveKill / Dance or Die / Hey You / Brain Wrap / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / March of the Skeletons / Death to the Angel of Death

Forgot to press record to videotape show. Can't believe we fit all that onto that little stage! Drumbot's first performance. Red stage light almost caught on fire. Dancing around pool table to "Brain Wrap." Strong, positive audience reaction to C.O.G. Show mixed by Mike Martin.

1st Lecture - "Enter - the C.O.G.!"
Saturday night, June 29th, 1996 - New Orleans Science Fiction & Fantasy Festival 1996

Opening for Garaj Mahal
photos? (There were photos snapped by somebody), video? (I remember somebody was taping parts of it)
Songs: Ode on a Mass Spectrometer / LoveKill / Dance or Die / Hey You / Krazed Archer / Free Bird / LoBoToMy / March of the Skeletons

No tape to videotape show; photos available? "Where's Lewis?!!?" Numerous technical glitches. "Damn you, Bill Gates!" Entire show served off Amiga 3000, running Cakewalk 3 on 25Mhz 386sx bridgeboard. Drumbot AWOL, just barely not ready in time.

'Songs of Violence & Stupidity' cassette
